The Cape Heritage hotel is an integral part of the restored Heritage Square, which dates back to the 18th Century. Our central courtyard is shaded by South Africa’s oldest known fruit-bearing grapevine, a calm oasis from which to explore the Mother City.

The narrow doorways, exposed granite walls, dimly-lit rows of barriques and an old forge provide the perfect old world setting for a unique City Winery.

Christophe & Sabrina Durand’s journey to create a space in which to nurture and showcase wines that express terroir, honour tradition and exude elegance.

THE VINE

Heritage Landmark

Like many houses of the day, it was centred around an intimate courtyard. A grapevine, planted in this courtyard in 1781, still flourishes today, bearing fruit and shading guests who shelter here for their daily repast.

Thanks to vigorous pruning each year, the oldest known fruit-bearing grapevine in South Africa survives without ever being fed or watered!

Art gallery

Sisonke means togetherness. This is our aim - to work hand in hand with local artists to provide a platform to showcase meaningful work within our space.

The gallery is inside the hotel and is open 7 days a week to guests and the public.

Serving up incredible sandwiches, using the finest grass fed beef and artisanal bread. Finish it off with a cold brew and you have a balanced meal of note!
